Stephen Lennard
Joint Managing Director

Stephen LennardStephen Lennard is Joint Managing Director and founding Principal of Crown & Marks Executive Search. He is widely acknowledged as one of Australia’s leading search consultants, and has experience operating across a number of business sectors.

Stephen holds an Honours degree in Applied Science from the University of NSW and an MBA from Macquarie University.

Earlier in his career Stephen successfully built and developed executive search and selection divisions for two leading international organisations and now has over 20 years experience in the industry.

Prior to entering executive search he spent many years in senior management positions with several Australian and multinational companies, including Kimberly-Clark Australia. He possesses a wealth of business and executive search experience, together with an intimate knowledge of the marketplace. He is highly regarded for his leadership, his determination and his extensive network of long-term business relationships.

His record of success includes local and international searches for managing directors and division heads, chief financial officers, chief operating officers, chief information officers and directors of professional services, corporate affairs and human resources. His market sector knowledge spans investment banking, private banking, wealth management and insurance, industrial services, manufacturing, mining, oil/gas, construction, engineering, government retail and not-for-profit amongst others.

Allan Marks
Joint Managing Director

Stephen LennardAllan Marks is Joint Managing Director and founding Principal of Crown & Marks Executive Search. Allan is widely recognised as one of Australia’s leading executive search consultants whose experience covers a wide range of industry sectors in the Asia Pacific region.

Allan is an Honours graduate of the University of London in Social Science and Economics and spent four years in the UK Chartered Accounting profession before commencing his twenty plus year career in executive search.

Allan has a strong commercial background in both public and privately owned organisations. This includes the establishment of the Australian operations for one of the world’s largest executive search and selection firms where he was also an international board member. Subsequently, Allan was the Managing Director of one of Australia’s largest and publicly listed executive search and selection firms. Allan also has extensive board experience, including IPOs and acquisitions.

He has successfully managed executive search assignments for boards and senior executive teams in industries covering: banking and investment banking, wealth management and financial services, construction and property, media and publishing, telecommunications, manufacturing, retail and professional services.

Typical roles Allan has completed include managing director, general manager, non-executive director, chief financial officer, chief operating officer, human resources director, head of property, portfolio manager, corporate advisory, company secretary, partner professional services firm, business development director and director sales and marketing.

In addition to Australia, Allan has led assignments in Asia, Europe and the Middle East.

Ron Cotton A.M.
Chair Advisory Board

Ron Cotton has had an extensive business career across a variety of industries. He served Ampol Petroleum Ltd for 20 years, the last 12 years as Controller and Group General Manager. In 1981 he was appointed as Chief Financial Officer, and was subsequently Group Managing Director–Operations for the John Fairfax Publishing Group, which included newspapers, magazines, Macquarie radio and the Seven Television network.

In 1989 he commenced a consultancy practice in business strategy, negotiation and corporate advice, and now has an extensive portfolio of activities in the public and private sectors.

Currently he is the Chair of the Advisory Board of Crown & Marks Executive Search, as well as providing a number of other advisory, consulting and mentoring services.

He has served as a member of the Building Commission for the Sydney 2000 Olympics, the Sydney Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal Committee, the Board of the Japan Entrepreneurial Presidents Association (Australian Division), and the Library Foundation of NSW, among other community organisations and chairs the Tenix Family Foundation.

Jane Oakeshott
Associate Partner

Jane is an Associate Partner with Crown & Marks and has an extensive background in successfully completing senior executive search assignments in Federal and State Government, higher education, transport and law.

Jane has established a highly successful career in the executive search industry following a career in both law and education.

She successfully practised as a Solicitor in both Federal and State Government sectors for the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions and the former State Authorities Superannuation and Investment Management Corporation.

Jane has also held investigative roles for the former National Crime Authority and the NSW Ombudsman’s Office, and held various roles from tutoring in business law to researching and curriculum development at Sydney University.

Since establishing a career in executive search, her record of success includes local and international searches for chief executive officers, general managers, directors, heads of corporate operations, chief financial officers, heads of human resources and heads of school, etc.

Her market sector knowledge spans Australian Federal, State and Local Government public sectors, state owned corporations and utilities, universities, schools, transport, law firms and not-for-profit amongst others.

Angus Stuart
Senior Associate

Angus Stuart is a Senior Associate with Crown & Marks Executive Search and has an extensive background in working with senior executives within the financial services and commercial sectors in Australia.

He has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Wollongong.  After having completed his tertiary studies, Angus embarked upon a Graduate Progam with the ANZ Banking Group and his eight years with the bank saw him work within all facets of the organisation covering areas such as corporate, commercial and retail lending, equities, treasury and international services.

Since being encouraged by a sporting colleague to try a career in executive search, Angus has never looked back. His 11 years experience has seen him manage assignments for domestic and international banks, investment managers, insurers, property, telecommunication, professional services, media and FMCG organisations with roles including chief financial officer, chief operating officer, general manager, company secretariat, financial controller, risk and compliance, mergers and acquisitions and relationship lending roles.

Angus is a dedicated, motivated and committed individual with a competitive nature. He represented Australia at the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics as a driver in the 2-Man Bobsleigh event. This hard working attitude forged with strong relationship skills has enabled Angus to build a strong reputation amongst his client following, something of which he is proud.

Corinne Smyth
Senior Associate

Corinne Smyth is a Senior Associate with Crown & Marks Executive Search and has broad national and international search experience in education, hospitality, engineering, financial services and a variety of commercial sectors throughout Australia, Europe and Asia.

She has a Master of Communications and Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing) degrees and a Diploma in Hospitality Management from universities in France as well as training and teaching qualifications gained in Australia. Corinne was invited to come to Australia in the late 1980's by the Department of Education & Training to research, develop, and implement courses for a range of industries. Prior to her career in executive search, Corinne worked in senior public relations and marketing management positions within education, hospitality and tourism. Corinne also has extensive experience in the not-for-profit sector and speaks several European languages, which she has also taught at universities and TAFE.

The opportunity to work with Crown & Marks Executive Search enabled Corinne to join a leading executive search firm that leverages her international expertise, multi-lingual skills and her knowledge of Australian business needs.

Darryl Mills
Research Manager

Darryl Mills is Research Manager for Crown & Marks Executive Search. She has over 15 years industry experience. Darryl applies a rigorous approach to research and provides clients with deep and broad industry knowledge and accurate market feedback.

Darryl is an English Literature Honours graduate from Sheffield University and is a trained and experienced Targeted Selection interviewer and administrator.

She has been in the search and selection industry for 15 years, initially in the UK before immigrating to Australia 11 years ago. She came to Australia to work for one of the country’s leading executive selection firms where she managed a team of Consultants and also won a Consultant of the Year award. Since then Darryl diversified her experience by working for a new firm that pioneered the use of competencies as a recruitment framework and became a skilled competency interviewer.

Her experience has covered a broad range of industries that has included specialisation in the funds management, financial services and technology industries.

Darryl has successfully worked on many roles; some of the more notable are General Manager Investments, Head of Asset Strategy, Head of Private Clients and Outsourcing Director.

Hela Swiatek
Research Associate

Hela is a Research Associate for Crown & Marks Executive Search. She has worked as a Human Resources specialist for over 20 years.

Hela has performed a diversity of Human Resources roles, including senior management and executive recruitment, business and personal coaching, leadership development and outplacement.  In addition, she has acted as a strategic advisor to senior management on cultural and organisational change as well as performance counselling and improvement. 

Hela has enhanced her experience with strong academic achievements.  She has graduated in Master Business (Employment Relations) from the University of Technology Sydney, Post Graduate Certificate Applied Science (Psychological Coaching) from University of Sydney, BA (Psychology) from Macquarie University and is currently completing her Honours degree in Psychology from Macquarie University.

Rebecca Meisner
Research Associate

Rebecca has almost 20 years commercial experience dealing with clients in professional services companies. This has often involved global account management in media, entertainment industry sectors working with peers in Europe and North America to drive consistency worldwide.

Rebecca’s professional career has been in large multinational companies such as Hewlett Packard, Kodak and American Express, with full responsibility for monitoring and enforcing software licensing regulations, the creation and quality assurance of global customer pricing and overall responding to client and customer needs.

Rebecca’s executive search experience has included a thorough background in research and candidate sourcing techniques across a range of industries including retail, finance and information technology.  She has successfully executed research assignments for searches at Director, General Manager and other senior executive positions, nationally and internationally.
